Obituary of Deanna K. Gritsh

Deanna Kaye Gritsch, age 50, of Utica, passed away peacefully March 14, 2014, after a long battle with cancer, with her loving family at her side.
She was born June 4, 1963, in Ilion, a daughter of Russell and Beverly Bonville Gritsch and graduated from Westmoreland Central School and the Culinary Arts Program at MVCC. Deanna worked as a sales assistant at the Dress Barn. She also attended the First Baptist Church in North Utica. She was a former member of the Westmoreland Girl Scouts and played in the Rome Women's Softball League for many years.
Deanna enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and had a great love of nature and animals, especially her cat "Abbey".
Deanna is survived by her father, Russell Gritsch of Rome; two sisters and a brother in law, Tammy Murling and fiancé, Barry Yette of Westmoreland, and Valerie and Jeffrey Connor of Camden; a brother, Douglas Gritsch of Fulton; nieces and nephews, Adam, Ryan, Morgan, Alyssa, Spencer, Rowan and Kierra; and life-long friend, Janet Zielinski. She was predeceased by her mother, Beverly.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Westmoreland Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday 4 to 7 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to any Cancer related charity of one's choice.
