I am so sorry to hear of Sam's passing. I heard of this from Terry and Judy Moores, who are from Rome NY, but now live in NC. I play in a band and played for their daughters wedding reception a few years ago, and we became friends and have shared a few conversations about some old Rome friends with Sam being at the top of my list!! In the late 80's, Sam, through Tony Cee's agency, would arrange mini tours at various bars and venues for our band, Sugarcreek or The Creek, in the upstate. We were based out of Charlotte NC. Sam and I hit off a friendship from the first time we met in Rome and even though I didn't see him since the 80's, I know he was still a friend . . . just the way he was. I remember him taking us for some REAL Italian food at a restaurant in the Rome Hotel, I believe it was . . . . wouldn't let us pay for it either. When we played the area, he'd come out and after the show, I'd ride w/him in his truck to scrape snow in the parking lots and he'd share some stories when he played drums and brag on the family. May God bless you guys in Sam's family and his many friends . . . . I'm sad to know the world is now without Sammy Madonia!!! Rick Lee Concord NC 5/27/14

I'm still in shock at the lost of Sam. For the last five years every time I came home to Utica we talked about playing drums in the old days. There will never be a bigger smile then Sam. He is now playing with all the local boys we lost over the years. God will make sure of that. Rest in peace my friend.

I only knew Sam through his snow plowing, but he was always wonderful to me. Very reliable, and very pleasant to deal with. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I have known Sam for more than 20+years from all of the bands I have played in and that Sam had booked gigs for. He was always a great guy to hang out with and talk music with. He always had a huge place in his heart for many of us musicians in the central NY music scene. It was just only about a month ago that I was hanging by the poolside having drinks with him and his lovely wife before heading to our gig in Celebration Fl and laughing our cans off talking about old times. He will be missed greatly by all who he came in contact with, not just musically but as a great friend and someone we all admired. RIP my friend!!

Offering my deepest, most heartfelt condolences to Carol and family. Sam will always hold a special place with me, not only as my booking agent for many years but as a caring, concerned friend. I'll always look back fondly at when he helped me discover the joy of being on the water, when he would take the time to haul my boat to the dock in May and back to my home in Sept. That's not something your "agent" does. It's something only a good friend would do. So add me to the list of those who mourn the loss of a good man and unselfish friend. I'm sure at some point I'll have an opportunity to help someone the way he helped me and when I do I'll be sure to let that person know I'm paying forward the acts of my departed friend Sam Madonia. Rest in peace buddy. I'll miss you.
