Obituary of RoseMary Baustert
Please share a memory of RoseMary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
RoseMary Basista Baustert, age 81, of Rome, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2019, with her husband at her side. They were married for 61 years, and together for 64 years.
She was born in Apollo, PA, a daughter of the late Michael and Rose Zalobin Basista. RoseMary was married to Thomas E. Baustert.
RoseMary loved life, family, her flower gardens, and all her golf friends that she played and traveled with at Rome Country Club and Shamrock Golf and CC. Although she never saw the Buffalo Bills win a Super Bowl, she cheered them on loyally and loudly. RoseMary loved to cook and her legendary recipe for Beef Stroganoff has been shared by family and friends all over. She shared her love of animals with her family and spoiled many a lucky cat, dog and "other" animals in her life.
RoseMary was an avid golfer and participated in and won many golf tournaments throughout New York State, including the Rome Country Club Women's Championship. She never let her husband forget that she had 3 hole-in-ones, and he only had 2.
RoseMary is survived by her husband, Tom; a daughter, Pat (and her husband) of Scarborough, ME; a son, Matthew (his wife, Wendy) of Taylors, SC; a grandson, Justin Baustert of Taylors, SC; granddaughter, Kristin (her husband, Adam) and great grandson, Anakin (due in March) of Greenville, SC; three brothers, Wendell (his wife, Ruth) Basista of Haughton, LA, Tom (his wife, Bonnie) Basista of Leechburg, PA, and Jim (his wife, Patty) Basista of Lower Burrell, PA; many nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Anne "C", who was always there for her.
Funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, if you wish, a charitable donation may be made to an animal rescue organization of your choice.
