Obituary of Helen M. Vittorello

Helen M. Vittorello, 87 years old, of Rome, N.Y. went to heaven on April 27, 2019, and is now reunited with her beloved husband, Albert Vittorello.
She was born on May 11, 1931, the daughter of the late Luigi and Elvira Magnanti. Helen graduated from Rome Free Academy and was a Supervisor at New York Telephone Company. On October 5, 1957, Helen and Albert were married in St. John the Baptist Church. Albert passed away April 19, 1994. Helen was a member of the Sleepy Hollow Women's Golf League, Marion Guild, the Rome Twigs, and St. John the Baptist Church.
Helen is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Debra and Joe Galluppi, and Sharon and Gary Rehm; her cherished grandchildren, Joseph Galluppi, Ryan (Diana) Galluppi, Brandon Galluppi, Lauren Rehm, and Justin Rehm; her precious great granddaughter, Gabrielle Galluppi; her brother and sister in law, Louis (Virginia) Magnanti; sisters in law, Antoinette Magnanti, Rose Magnanti, Rita Magnanti and Anne Vittorello; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by immediate members of her family, Peter and Marie Magnanti, Yolanda and Philip Gregory, Mary and Frances McGowan, August Magnanti, Alfred "Pops" Magnanti, Anthony "Motors" Magnanti, Philip Magnanti, and James Vittorello.
Helen will always be remembered by her love for music, dancing, shopping, playing bingo, and playing sports. Her family and grandchildren meant the world to her and she loved attending their school events, sporting events, talking to them every day about how their job was going or the outcome of the college games on TV. She loved to cook, attend social gatherings with her friends, and shopping in the Rome stores. On Sundays, you would find her in church due to her devotion to her faith. She will be deeply missed by everyone who touched her life.
The family would like to thank the special caregivers that provided excellent care to Helen over the last few years, Jessica Barrett, Toni Eckert, Diana Baker and Tracy Baker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, May 2, at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Angelicchio officiating the celebration of Helen's life.
Family and Friends can pay their respects on Wednesday, May 1, from 4 to 7 PM at Barry Funeral Home, 807 West Chestnut Street.
Helen and Albert strongly believed that a good education was a basic necessity to a successful life, and a scholarship fund will be established in their honor. In lieu of flowers, please send donations payable to Sharon Rehm in care of Barry Funeral Home, 807 Chestnut Street, Rome, NY 13440.
