George T. Krenitsky, age 96, of Bedford Street, passed away peacefully, March 13, 2010, at home with his loving family at his side. He was born February 25, 1914, in Olyphant, PA, a son of Thomas and Tessie Shifron Krenitsky, and graduated from Olyphant High School and Wharton School of Finance. George was united in marriage to the former Mary Prozny, on September 4, 1950, in the Church of the Transfiguration. He was employed at Rome Manufacturing and Revere Copper and Brass, Tool and Die Division, retiring in 1979. He also managed the Prozny family liquor store for several years. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II. He was a member of the Church of the Transfiguration. George was quite the bowling aficionado and won the Rome City championship. He was a life member of the Rome Elks. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, barbershop singing, gardening and tending to his fruit trees. He delighted in his family and would often toast family dinners by thanking the Lord for bringing his family together. George will always be remembered as a kind-hearted, generous, fun-loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. George is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; three daughters and two sons in law, Mary Lee and Stephen Perrone of Sylvan Beach, Kathy Ann and Stephen Cerny of Endicott, and Jane F. Krenitsky of Manhattan; two sons and daughters in law, Joseph G. and Shufen Krenitsky of Buffalo, and John C. and Anne Krenitsky of Orchard Park; two sisters, Dorothy Pompey of Olyphant, PA, and Olga Morgan of Bergenfield, NJ; a brother, John Krenitsky of Rome; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Paul Thomas Krenitsky, 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:45 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, and at 10:30 AM at the Church of the Transfiguration. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Today 6 to 8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Transfiguration Memorial Fund or the Veterans Administration Hospital Memorial Fund.
