Obituary of Francis P. Slaga

Frank Slaga, RN, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2010.
He was born April 1, 1927, to Walter Slaga and Victoria Soltys-Slaga of Floyd. He attended Holland Patent Central School and graduated with honors. He was deployed with the United States Army artillery division during the occupational forces of Japan during World War II, and the Korean Conflict. He married Helena Stein from Sttuttgart, Germany on March 23, 1957 at the Church of the Transfiguration, Rome, NY. They were married for 50 years before Helena's death on January 19, 2008. He received his RN degree from Albany Medical School of Nursing , and was employed as a psychiatric RN, during his 35 year career at Marcy Psychiatric Center. During the last four years of his life, he was a resident at Masonic Care Community.
Frank is survived by his brothers, John Slaga of Rome, Michael Slaga of Floyd; sisters, Mary Buczkowski of Floyd and Rose Patella of India Atlantic, FL. He is also survived by his immediate family, James and Vicky Slaga of Floyd, Ronald and Lisa Slaga, Clark Mills, Jeffrey R.N. and Carri Slaga , R.N of E. Greenbush, NY, and Mark Slaga M.D.of Floyd; and grandchildren, Jaime Slaga-Winfield, Ronald, Julie, Rebecca, Hannah, Chad, Joshua and Abbey .
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 AM at the Church of the Transfiguration, Rome NY.
Calling hours for family and friends of Frank, will be on Tuesday March 30th between 4 to 7 PM, at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Rome, NY.
