Linda I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom obviously brought great joy to many people. I feel fortunate that I had an opportunity to meet her, even if only once. But from that momentary hello, it was clear why she brings a smile to Mel's face when she speaks of her. She has made so many happy memories for so many.

There are so so many things...I think my favorite is how she always spoke so fondly of her own mother. She would always tell us that she was so very healthy because her mother had breast fed her until she was five. Then there was the story of when she was a little girl at a barbershop, and the barber had shaved her forearms, and that was the only reason that she had hair on her arms as an adult. So so simple, yet so interesting, she could tell a story that you just couldn't walk away from. In the last few months, she had a couple of falls to which we had alerted EMT's, she would say that the male EMT's were her boyfriends. I can't think of her without smiling. To most of us she was a little stubborn from time to time, but I would consider it stubborn with grace, for she had already seen more things in her life then most of us will ever see. Especially all the things back to when the technology we all are used to didn't exist. It was a hard life, and we are the product of her life. I Love You Grammy!!!!!

although this is not neccisarly a shared story it is about my wonderful loving great grandmother sandra darway crandall aka GG. i did not know where to post anything and i wanted to share something about her.... she was the most amazing loving caring and generous woman i knew... i was so graced and lucky to have got to know her for almost nearly 18 years of my life... she had a heart of gold and was always there to listen whenever someone was in need... i got to spend a lot of time with her and became very close to her.... she was my best friend... although we got into small arguments from time to time i loved her dearly and she always pushed me to succeed even in the littlest goals... i can remember helping her with her showers and everytime i would be upset or not feeling well she would always sing me a song from her childhood called smile darn you smile. even though those were the only words of the song she could remember it always made me cheer right up. i remember her walking around for hours back and forth in the house doing what she called "running laps" with her walker. she would always have her cat sitting on the seat that was attached to her walker. it used to make me laugh when she would talk to the cat like she was another human being. i could hear her in her bedroom arguing with the cat like the cat was talking back to her. she was not only my great grandmother and my best friend she was my confidant i told her many things that i was even afraid to tell my mom or dad or my grandma. i feel so lucky i got to be a part of her life and be graced with all her wisdom.... she was a woman of knowledge. i can remember her teaching me several words in hungarian, even simple words and sayings like yes, no, and i love you. she lived such a long and healthy life. i love her dearly and will miss her terribly. our entire family will miss her so much... "I LOVE YOU GG MAY YOU REST IN PEACE."
