The poems that Grandma recited were more than "Roses are red...". They were LONG. "A Psalm of Life" ~Longfellow and "Barbara Frietchie" ~JG Wittier were two I heard her say. We were talking on the phone, a couple years ago and I said something about "gray hair". Suddenly Grandma said, "Shoot if you must this old gray head, But spare your country's flag, she said." And continued. I realized she was reciting a poem, went to the computer and began entering the words she was saying. She had it almost recited, before the computer honed in on "Barbara Frietchie".

We send our condolences to the Sherwood family. We had occasion to meet Jerry on one of her trips to Rome. She was interesting, entertaining and quite an amazing lady. May you find comfort in the wonderful memories. With sympathy, Ken & Gerry Kakaty
