I enjoyed working with Charlie on several community boards and always found him to be thoughtful and friendly. Our community is better because of Charlie's service. We will miss him.

To the Getty family....please accept my personal condolences on your loss. "Charlie" was a very good friend of my dad (Gerry) and mom (Ginny) for many years. My dad and Charlie frequently played golf together at Teugega C.C. and it was there that I got to know Charlie myself. When my dad died in 1984 Charlie was kind enough to arrange for my brother, Russ, and me to play golf at Teugega on occasion, enabling us to return to the golf course that we grew up playing. I will always remember Charlie for the wonderful gentleman that he was and am thankful for having known him.

I wanted to share some fond memories of Mr. Getty with his family. I worked with Mr. Getty, never calling the bosses by their first name lol, at Revere Copper & Brass Rome Division/Main office from approx 1964 until his retirement. Working for and with Mr. Getty was a pleasure. I considered him a fine honest gentleman a true role model. My career started in the Computer Dept. on the ground floor next to the garage were most of the executives parked their cars. I was working the 8pm to 4am shift when one night or I should say early morning around 1am and loud knock came from the window behind me. Needless to say it scared the daylights out of me because never expecting anyone coming to work at that time. I turned to see who it was after gaining my composure, it was Mr. Getty. I opened the window and he asked me to let him in as he had forgotten his key. When I opened the door he apologized for the scare and we both had a good lol! As I mentioned Mr. Getty was a role model, his hard work and respect for all his workers helped me to become successful emulating his work ethic with my career at Revere. I retired in 1997 as Transportation Manager. So please accept my sincere condolences at your loss. May God bless him, James DeProspero

Uncle Charlie, Capt. C.R.- Although distance limited our visits, get-togethers in Rome, Speculator, Butler and Wayne were memorable. It was an honor to finally talk about the heroics of one of the Best of the "Greatest Generation". My thoughts are with you all...........Brian

My heartfelt condolences on the death of your lovely Dad. That quiet smile belied a strong spirit but a grand sense of humor; I think of the many happy times shared with your parents. We never seem to think they will actually leave us but we are blessed by having such good ones! In my prayers and thoughts of you all, Barbara
