Robert J. Reed, 65, of Fenton, Missouri, and formerly of Rome, passed away August 3, 2011, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born March 9, 1946, in Rome, NY, the son of late Menzo and Cora Compo Reed. He graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1966. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the late 1960's, and served a deployment to Vietnam. After his discharge, he was employed by Department of Public Works, City of Rome for 33 years, retiring in 2001.
He is survived by his daughter Cynthia Reed of Taberg; daughter and son-in-law, Russell and Nicole Brown of Taberg; and his son Ryan Reed of Rome; grandchildren, Phoebe Reed and Persephone Reed-Brown of Taberg; a sister, Charron Reed-Thomas of Fremont, CA. and a brother in Rome. Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Angela Tomasso; his brothers Donald Reed and Richard Reed; and his sister, Ruth Tuttle.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at 1 PM at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Saturday 12 Noon to 1 PM prior to the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated and will be given to the St. John's Mercy Medical Center Skilled Nursing Center, 615 S. New Ballas Rd, St. Louis, MO 63141, in his name.
