Obituary of Ann C. McGee
Ann C. McGee, age 71, was released from a “locked up” body and mind on October 13, 2019, at the Grand of Rome, and entered the arms of her Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ, after fighting a courageous battle with brain cancer.
She was born in Southampton, NY on October 5, 1948 to the late James and Alice (Glowczenski) Glover McGee. She was educated in Southampton Schools and graduated from Alpena Community College, Stony Brook University, and West Virginia University, earning two Master’s Degrees in Health and Physical Education.
Ann volunteered at the Rome Community Theater and the Rome Polish Home. She enjoyed singing karaoke and had a beautiful voice. She also liked going to Stockdale’s for the monthly Irish jam session and going to the Kirkland Arts Center for various performances. She enjoyed a good steak and seafood, the sea, her many feline companions, making jewelry, and had a love for antique cars which she got from her father, whom she viewed as an expert car mechanic.
Ann leaves behind a cousin whom she loved as a sister, Sylvia Hayes and her two sons, of Chicago Ridge, IL; a cousin, Kathy Lawrence of GA; and several other extended family members. She was predeceased by a brother, James McGee.
A special thank you to all the Wing 3 staff at the Grand who cared for and loved Ann and her humor, especially when her dear friend, Marylou Conners, couldn’t be there. Also, a thank you to John, Kelly and Sean of the Conners family for all the help and assistance in caring for her…Ann, we “got it done,” and you will certainly be missed!
At Ann’s request, she will be buried with her parents at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Sag Harbor, NY, at a private graveside service.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
