Obituary of Anthony J. Spada
Anthony J. Spada, age 65, our precious brother and friend, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2019.
Anthony was born September 26, 1954, along with his twin sister, Victoria Spada Angotti (Fred Martin) of Rome. He also is survived by three other sisters, Linda (Rick) Magill of Aspen, CO, Elizabeth Spada and Grace Spada (Donald Reynolds) all of Rome; cherished nieces and nephews, Tracy Spada (Joe Renzi), Sophia Spada, Matthew Angotti (Janice Vanderhoff), Shawna Vanderhoff, Devin Brown of Rome, Carly (J.W. Lafferty) of Grand Junction, CO, and Evan Magill of Denver, CO He was predeceased by his parents, John J. and Angeline Boffi Spada, and a brother in law, Thomas Angotti.
“Tony”, as all his friends called him, worked for the Rome Housing Authority, and became friends with many of the senior citizens living in the apartments. He was very kind and generous to them and often would drive them to New Hartford and area restaurants to dine; although most of them have passed too.
Anthony was good to everyone and the most humble person anyone has ever met. He cherished his family and friends, adored children and loved animals. He always put others before himself. He truly was a spiritual man and will be in safekeeping until he is with Jesus in paradise.
We will dearly miss Anthony forever; but we are grateful for the time we had him in our lives. He was a true gentleman and a gentle man. He loved people and always wanted there to be “peace on earth”.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful people and staff of the Rome Police and Rome Fire Departments, 2 East at Rome Memorial Hospital, and the paramedics at Amcare, for their compassion and kindness.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
