Obituary of Joyce E. Koenig

Joyce E. Koenig, age 86, of Rome, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2020.
She was born June 6, 1934, in Rome, the daughter of the late Armand R. and Janet Smith Bustos, and educated in Rome schools. Joyce was united in marriage to Paul Koenig on June 7, 1952, in St. Mary of the Assumption Church; he died November 14, 2015.She worked as a dietician at Rome Memorial Hospital for many years. She was a member of Annunciation Church in Clark Mills.
Joyce’s life was blessed with her children, and grand and great grandchildren. Joyce loved birds especially Cardinals. She also enjoyed helping others and for years crocheted afghans, and baby afghans and donated them to Rome Memorial Hospital.
Joyce is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Patricia and Scott Harrison of Palmyra, VA, and Michele and Kevin Murphy of Liverpool; two sons, William and Pam Koenig of Oriskany, and Armand Koenig of Rome; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, George Koenig.
Funeral services will be private. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
