This is a little summary from the Albany Affiliates Chapter of Maryknoll Missioners in response to the passing of our dear friend and member, Bill Hall.
We wanted the family to know how much we cared for and loved Bill. These are some excerpts in our emails.
Our gentle friend.
I'm feeling sad. Bill is now in God's embrace, we await his presence with us. I will miss him
How very very sad
Sorry to hear of Bill’s passing
So very sad , He will be missed and remembered for his smile and quiet twinkle in his eye
A very sad day! For us and for Bill’s family. Bill will be missed.
How very very sad. He was a kind gentle man. Always a smile on his face and love in his heart
May he be at peace with God
I’m saddened by the loss of Bill. Condolences to all. We’ll miss him.
Such deep sadness now. Bill shared so many gifts with us we are forever enriched and will miss him.
This horrid disease has deprived us of yet another beautiful person, a kind, generous, loving, and precious man. Bill will most certainly be missed.
I will miss his quiet and kind presence - and his cooking! - at our meetings.
How very, very sad. We will so miss his gentle presence, his smile. What a loss for all of us and for his family.
A really likeable guy... great guy, what a sense of humor !... & his cooking !!!
Bill was certainly a quiet man, a hard worker, and a delicious cook. Thanks __ for reminding us of that. We saw him a couple times in that mustang convertible car and he was committed to taking videos the hockey teams. So glad he was able to come to some of our last in person meetings. Such a special dear man... I'm sure the angels greeted you dear friend".
The frustration, of not being able to convey directly our prayers and grief to Bill and now to his family, is palpable. It defies Vulcan logic that people who only "get together" once each month should share such a close affinity for each other!
A dear sweet man we shall always remember.
One of our members wrote this tribute to Bill.
Remember my ready, impish smile?
Remember that twinkle in my eyes when I smiled or laughed or shared a funny story with you?
Remember those things that I loved to do, to spend my time and my talents on?
Those were the things that filled my heart and fed my soul--especially when I shared them with you.
Remember when I saw hurt or pain and gave my hug, heart, and words to soothe you?
In all of these remembering's, I will always be with you.
Now that I am gone from you, ease your sorrow, soothe your hurt, with this--my request, my prayer---
Only with smiles and with love,
Chris Minnear, Albany Maryknoll Affiliate Chapter

We were blessed to have Bill as our dear friend for over 40 years.
During that time , he was the guy that did all of the organizing for our annual vacations , most of which were to Provincetown MA He had a true love for Cape Cod .
We also shared numerous good times each year, whether at his house or ours . He was a part of our family !
We will forever miss his kind heart , generosity , quick wit and bright smile .
He will always hold a special place in our hearts and memories .

Bill was so appreciated by all the members of the Albany Bombers hockey team. Every year since 2007, he was consistently the guy who showed up for the most team events and games. He was always the first there to greet us at the door and tell you which locker room we had. He took pictures and video of every game. And when he couldn't get it done, he tried to make sure someone else took his place.
He helped the team feel more like a family. He hosted numerous Summer BBQs for us. We would all go out to eat together after most games. When my son was 6 months old, we were at the Pride Parade, Bill took the most amazing close-ups of my son. He put his sense of humor into the lense.
We were not permitted to be there to support him or provide comfort when he got sick. And its hard to imagine he was alone. He was always there for us.
I'll really will miss Bill's dry humor, his grin, and all the times he was there with us.

To his sister Lori, and to the family and friends of William C. Hall, our sincere condolences. His fellow troopers of the 11th Armored Cavalry’s Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia, salute our fallen brother. William served courageously with the Air Cavalry Troop of the 11th Amored Cavalry Regiment in 1968 and 1969, and it was our privilege to have him in the ranks of the Legendary Blackhorse Regiment. Our loss is that of another brother down and we will continue to honor his memory at our gatherings and at our annual reunion. A Life Member of the 11th Armored Cavalry's Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia, he was an exemplary soldier. His name will be listed on the roll of our honored dead and in our newsletter, Thunder Run. But as our Burial Liturgy clearly states: “life has not ended, merely changed” and William’s soul continues on an endless path. As we were together then (in Vietnam), we will be together again in the life hereafter, comfortably enfolded in the loving arms of our Merciful Father.
Chaplain Blandin W. Karabinos, 11th ACVVC (Vietnam 71-72)

My husband and I worked with Bill at the Watervliet Arsenal. He was such an easy-going guy with a sharp sense of humor. He worked in the Supply area and I was in Accounting- oil and water when it came to balancing quantity and value. We always found the problem with lots of humor thrown in- what a great person to work with. We've been sending/getting Christmas cards and catching up for over 20 years since we retired. Everyone's loss not having a Bill Hall in their life.

Bill always shared a part of Easter dinner with me for years. He loved cooking Easter dinner for his family and loved the egg hunts for the kids. Every year he made 2 hams and right aftér Easter would call me up and give me one of the ham bones with plenty of meat on it so I could made split pea soup with ham. He'd use the other to make soup for himself and friends. I will miss my ham bone this year and will have to go to Honey Ham and buy one, in honor of you Bill. Love you Buddy.
