Obituary of Gail L. Allen

Please share a memory of Gail to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Gail L. Allen, age 75, of the Town of Lee, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2021.

She was born October 5, 1945, in Rome, a daughter of the late Joseph H. and Irene Smith LaSalle, and graduated from Rome Free Academy. Gail was united in marriage to Robert J. Allen, on September 14, 1968, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church.  She worked as a tour guide at the Erie Canal Village for many years.

Gail was a talented crafter and built many miniature houses, villages, and crocheted the most beautiful doll dresses as a hobby. She put her heart and soul in all that she did. She was always there to lend a hand, an ear and always putting others first.  She was our Amazing Grace with a heart of gold!

Gail is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Robert J. II, and Arlene Allen of Vienna, and Michelle Allen and Randy Ryan of Brewerton; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Elizabeth LaSalle of Rome; a sister, Sandy Lince of Rome; grandchildren, Cheyan Benge, Trystan Waller, Jessica Hinson and Emily Allen; and great grandchildren, Natalie and Ryan Hinson.  She was predeceased by sisters, Jeanette Ward and Julie Andrewski; and brothers, Ronald and Roger LaSalle.

Funeral services will be private.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

There are no calling hours.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
