Obituary of Cecelia T. Bunal
Cecelia “Ceil” T. Bunal, age 91, of Rome, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2021, at Bethany Gardens.
Ceil was born in Rome on November 8, 1929 to the late Clarence and Mary Janette Taylor, and graduated from Rome Free Academy. On February 18, 1950, she was united in marriage to Cecil Bunal. She worked as a stenographer at Rome Manufacturing. Ceil was a communicant at St. Joseph’s Church, Lee Center, and loved to knit, read, bake, doing puzzles and babysit.
Ceil is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Cecil; her daughters, Susan McBain of Rome, Diane (Robert) Hoag of Lee Center, and Lisa (Anthony) Zimecki of Rome; her sons, Alan (Jane) Bunal of Conway, SC, and Eric (Melissa Sprague) Bunal of Rome; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sister, Janice Bunal; a brother Frank (Irene) Taylor; her daughter in law, Cyndy Bunal; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, James Bunal; her granddaughter, Dana Matt; her sisters, Joan and Rosemary; her brothers, Harold, Clarence Jr., Don, Paul, Bill, and Bruce; and a son in law, Timothy McBain.
The family would like to extended a sincere thank you to the staff at Bethany Gardens (both past and present) for their care, compassion, and love shown to Ceil and her family during her stay. You truly are heroes!
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, Lee Center. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM. The family asks that those attending please have a facial covering.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and/or the Lake Delta Volunteer Fire Department.
