Obituary of Arthur R. Higley
Arthur “Art” R. Higley, age 75, of Camden, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2021, with his loving family at his side.
He was born January 28, 1946, in Rome, a son of the late George R. Higley and Maisie Carlin Higley-Costello, both of Rome NY. He was a 1969 graduate of Rome Free Academy. He continued his education at HCCC. Art was united in marriage to the former Wendy Davis on June 16, 1973, in Rome, NY. Art was employed for over 30 years with the state of NY. Retiring as a security hospital treatment assistant at the CNY Psychiatric Center in Marcy, NY. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Art loved the beauty of the great outdoors. He enjoyed biking, cross-country skiing, hiking, camping and swimming. He also enjoyed singing karaoke while partying with family and friends. Art enjoyed spending time with his family working on home improvement projects, and investing time on the family camp with his brother and sister in laws.
Art is survived by his loving wife, Wendy; his children, Julie and Barry Soulia of Westmoreland, and Jason Higley and Melinda Malik of Camden; a brother, Charles Costello of Clinton; and grandchildren, Karissa Farrell, Konner Farrell, Hannah Soulia, Carter Higley, and Morgan Hamlin. He also leaves many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Ann Rembold and Elizabeth Higley.
Celebration of life services will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Military Honors will be rendered at 4 PM, at the funeral home.
