Lisle was born in Stockholm, NY on August 5, 1939 to the late Daniel and Muriel Turner Sanborn. He received his Master’s Degree from Clarkson University. In 1989 he was lovingly united in marriage to Cecelia Massa and loved her. Lisle worked at Griffiss AFB where he was an engineer, and traveled the world.
Lisle pursued many passions in life! He was an avid photographer, was close to receiving his pilot’s license, loved flying gliders, was a competitive pistol shooter, a member of the CNY Earth Metal Detecting Club where he was a board member, and would help community members find lost valuables, and enjoyed a trip of a lifetime to hunt in the history-laden fields of England. He was a scuba diver and Master Instructor for many years, and enjoyed diving in different parts of the world. He also assisted law enforcement on the daunting task of water accident recovery in every kind of weather. He was responsible for writing newsletters for many organizations. He was a member of the Mended Hearts, where he would encourage others during their heart surgeries. He worked diligently as the President of the South Rome Senior Center for 17 years, as well as The Office of The Aging, and was very proud of the important work of helping others. Over the last several years, Lisle gave his life to God and was deeply devoted to his church family at Life Church. He served countless hours helping with the recent renovations at the former Armory. Lisle made many dear friends, and most of all, he loved his family. He will be greatly missed by us all.
