Obituary of Janice E. McNaughton
Janice E. McNaughton, age 82, of Rome, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2022, at Rome Health, with her loving family by her side.
She was born October 9, 1939, in Pittsfield, MA, daughter of the late Leon E. and Diane C. Rankin Pecon. She graduated from Searles High School in Great Barrington, MA. Janice was formerly married to Dennis Fountain. She later married Robert McNaughton in 1982; he passed away in 1995. She formerly worked for Bank of America in Texas.
Janice was an active volunteer with Zion Episcopal Church and the Rome Rescue Mission and participated in the exercise and yoga programs at the Ava Dorfman Center. She also enjoyed watching the eagles and birds out her windows, scenic drives, football, and dinner and movies with her “girls club.”
Janice is survived by her son Mike (Maryanne) Fountain of Taberg; daughters, Linda (Steve) Salter of Rome, and Jeanette “Babes” Fountain (Anthony) of Munnsville; grandchildren, Amy (Kris), Dan (Kendall), Michael T. (Katie), Nick (Ashley), Brandon (Naomi), and Liam (Katie); 11 very special great grandchildren; brothers, Brian (Velva) Pecon, and Bruce (Toni) Pecon; and four special nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, Barry Pecon, and a great grandson, Cooper.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 6:00 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, on Monday, from 4 to 6 PM, prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Rome, or Zion Episcopal Church.
