Obituary of Cora Sue Howe
Cora Sue Howe, age 80, of Rome, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2022, at Bethany Gardens.
Cora was born in Rome on April 27, 1942 to the late Raymond and Arlene Smith Johnson, and graduated from RFA in 1960. On June 22, 1963, she was united in marriage to Alex G. Howe at St. Mary’s Church in Rome. She retired in 2003 from the Rome City School District as a hall monitor.
Cora was a member of St. Peter’s-St. Mary’s Altar Rosary Society and Choir, and the 1960 Class Reunion Committee. She spent many summers at the camp in Eagle Bay with family and friends.
Cora is survived by her loving husband, Alex; her daughter, Amy (Patrick) Harris of Rome; her son, Christopher (Dana) Howe of Rome; her grandchildren, Allison Ray Harris, Erin Kathleen Harris, Evan Patrick Harris, and John D. Howe; and cousins, Michael (Cindy) Dempsey, Rev Lester Smith, Eleanor (Lee) Hipp, and Mary Margaret (Ed) Kohl. She was predeceased by her sister, Bonnie Lou Kearns.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 9, at 11 AM at St. Peter’s Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
