Obituary of Joanne M. Carmody
Joanne Carmody, 63, passed away on May 5, 2022 with her family by her side. She was born in Rome, on May 12, 1958, daughter of the late Joseph and Grace (LaDeaux) Carmody. She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1979.
Joanne had many friends and family who loved her. She was known as “Aunt Joanne” to everyone no matter what their relationship was. She was a very happy and loving person despite all the medical issues she faced throughout her life. Always smiling, never complaining.
She enjoyed watching her “Soaps” and never missed the Dancing With The Stars television show or performances at the Turning Stone Casino. Joanne loved to dance and was known as the #1 Fan of the Loose Gravel band. She was part of the band “family” and will be missed.
Above all, Joanne was the kindest person you could ever meet. Her family meant the world to her and she spent a lot of time with her great nieces and nephews. They enjoyed playing games, drawing and watching Disney movies with her. She adored spending time with her cat, Mitsy, and her dog, Willow.
One of her proudest moments was becoming Godparent to her great nephew, Jacob Pocchiari.
Joanne will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure to have her in their life. She was a Shining Star.
Joanne is survived by two sisters and brothers in law, Kathy and Brad Birnie, and Cindy and John Akins; a sister-in-law, Rosanne Carmody; nieces and nephews and their families; Scott and Melissa Birnie and Bradley, Brennan, Matheson and Maizie, Michelle and Michael Pocchiari and Jacob, Aaron and Samantha Akins and Grace and Allison, Seth Akins, Bryan II and Theresa Carmody and Bryan III, Deirdre and Jeff Gaffney and Aine, Alana and Mitch Blasi. She was predeceased by her brother, Bryan Carmody, and great nephew, Joseph Pocchiari.
The funeral service will be private.
