Obituary of MaryJane B. Volpi

MaryJane B. Volpi, age 99, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2022.

She was born in Rome on December 27, 1922, the third oldest of eight children, to the late William Sr. and Dorothy White Bird. She graduated from SAA, and attended RIT and Syracuse University, earning her Bachelors of Science in Retail Management. She used her education assisting her father and uncle, Jim Bird, at Bird's Fine Furniture in Rome. On August 4, 1951, she was united in marriage to Bernard L. Volpi, Sr.; a blessed union of 44 years until his passing on May 29, 1995.

MaryJane was a parishioner at St. Peter's and later, St. Paul's Catholic Church for most of her life. She will be remembered for her grace and warmth. She brought a smile to all she met.

MaryJane is survived by her daughter, Barbara Henry of Manlius; her son, Bernard (Karen) Volpi, Jr. of Cleveland, NY; her grandchildren, Hannah Volpi, Arin (Candice) Volpi, and Ben Volpi; great grandchildren, Elaina and Avary Volpi; her sister, Dorothy Cariou; her brother, Robert (Ann Marie) Bird; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Eleanor Coffey, and Gloria Olney; and her brothers, Jack, William Jr., and Richard "Dick" Bird.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11 AM at St. Peter's Church, with the Rev. Bernard Menard officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland.

Per MaryJane's wishes, there will be no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Rome and/or Jervis Public Library.
