Obituary of LuAnne Townsend

Lu Anne Townsend, age 49, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, after a battle with lung cancer. She kept her promise to her family and fiercely fought until the end and is now at peace.

Lu Anne was born in Rome on September 13, 1972 to the late Jodie Townsend Sr. and Audrey Bartlett She was educated in the Rome Schools. She worked in the hospitality field her whole life including at the Candlewood Hotel and La Quinta Inn. She loved to dance, go on motorcycle rides, and spend time at the ocean admiring its beauty. She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Her love spread to others as well and she was a mother figure to several children Myles, Manley Ryan and more. She loved them all as her own. She enjoyed her “Brightside Girls” and several longtime friends, Latoya, Dana, Renz, Maria and many more. She loved sharing many laughs and memories with them.

Lu Anne is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Ray Peck) Dozois, and Shirrice “Nea Nea” (Griffin Leoni) Nonluecha; her sons, Kenny Dozois III, and William “Moo Moo” (Teona Brown) Nonluecha; her six grandchildren , Avan, Drake, Audreyella, Lilith, Kaivin, and Kailiana; one grandchild on the way and  her step grandchildren ; her sisters, Tammy Townsend and Robin (Sean) Kozma; her brothers, Jodie Townsend Jr., Timothy Townsend, and Matthew Townsend; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Wendy Townsend, her nephew, Timmy Blanchard; and her best friend and cousin Trish Perry.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Catholic Hospice of Ft. Lauderdale for their care and compassion shown to LuAnne and her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 16, at 12 Noon, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 10 AM to 12 Noon prior to the celebration.
