Obituary of Lillian M. Rundle
Lillian M. Rundle, age 91, of Westmoreland, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2022, at MVHS-St. Luke’s Campus.
Lillian was born in Rome on September 30, 1931m to the late Albert and Edna Carter Burk and educated in the Rome Schools. She completed her EKG Technician course at MVCC and was very proud of that accomplishment. She worked as a certified home health aide for Oneida County, and was employed at the former Oneida County Hospital and the NYS DDSO.
Lillian was a lifetime member of several organizations including the Oneida County Fire Police, Smith Post American Legion Auxiliary, the DAV Auxiliary, and the Stanwix Heights F.D. and Ladies’ Auxiliary, where she was a member of over 50 years. She was also named civil firefighter of the Stanwix Heights F.D. in 1997.
Lillian is survived by her sons, Billy (Wanda) Rundle, Mark (Karen) Rundle, Randy Rundle all of Westmoreland, and Kevin Rundle of Bridgewater; her daughter in law, Vickie Ruble; her step-sons, Daniel and Darryl Rundle; her former daughter in law, April Rundle; ten grandchildren, many great grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; her K-9 companion, Diamond; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Bradley “Brad” Ruble; her brothers, William Burk and Albert Burk Jr.; her daughter in law, Jeanne Rundle; and her former husbands, Richard Ruble and Calvin C. Rundle.
Lillian’s funeral will be held on Friday at 11 AM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Rathbunville Cemetery, Verona Mills.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 4 to 7 PM. Members of the Oneida County Fire Police and the Stanwix Height Fire Department will lead a service at 6:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stanwix Heights Fire Department, the American Cancer Society, and/or the Humane Society of Rome.
