Obituary of Lois M. Heilig
Lois M. Heilig, age 89, formerly of Camden, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2023, at MVHS-St. Elizabeth’s Campus.
Lois was born in McKees Rock, PA on January 12, 1934, to the late Secyl and Loretta Spitt Gardner, and graduated from Rome Free Academy. On March 14, 1953, she was united in marriage to Richard N. Heilig, whom she adored; a blessed union of 68 years until his passing on October 14, 2021.
Lois, who was known as “Mama” in her family, was an avid NY Yankee fan and loved women’s college basketball and the WNBA. She also enjoyed the Peanuts gang, including Charlie Brown and Snoopy, and knitted many afghans throughout the years for friends and family.
Lois is survived by her daughters, Lynne Moore, and Debra Jean Heilig; her son, Robert Heilig; her grandchildren, Nick, Timmy, and Zach; two great grandsons, Brady and Bentley; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Barbara Jutzler and Jean Suits.
The family would like to thank Lois’s nieces, Jackie Suits, and special family friend, Cozette Davis, for all their care, compassion, help and friendship shown to Lois.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 13, at 11 AM, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rome.
Burial in the spring will be in Rome Cemetery.
