Obituary of Eugene R. DePasquale

Eugene R. DePasquale, age 86, of Rome, passed away peacefully at his home on April 15, 2023, with his loving family by his side.

He was born September 4, 1936, in Rome, a son of the late Angelo and Carmella Civitelli DePasquale and attended Rome schools.  Gene was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Catello, on November 2, 1962, in Westmoreland; she died on March 21, 2020.  He was the former owner and operator of the Happy Valley Farms in Rome, and also worked at Strip Steel in Rome, retiring after 42 years of service.  Gene proudly served in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard during the Korean War era.

Gene’s happiest times were with his loving family and friends, taking care of his animals, and working the farm and driving his tractor. He also enjoyed the many friends he made during his many years of bowling.

Gene is survived by his children, Sharon Hendrix, Jim and Linda Heath, Michael and Kittie DePasquale, Brian and Cindy Heath, Kevin and Karen Heath, Joe and Cindy Heath, Teresa and Billiam Barnes, Angela and David Barnard, Laurie Wright and Drew Haws, and Anthony and Hertha DePasquale; a son in law, Walter Davis; two brothers and sisters in law, Thomas and Donna DePasquale and Angelo Jr, and Sue DePasquale; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren; and cousins, nieces and nephews; special friends, Gary and Linda Ott, Howard and Mary Mosher, Gabe and Karen Ciotti, Nick Coluccio and Mike Miner; special pets, Lucille and Bella, who was on Gene’s bed at his feet when he passed.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Davis and son, Angelo DePasquale.

The family wishes to sincerely thank Dr. Win, Rome Medical Group and Hospice and Palliative Care for their loving and special care extended to Gene.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, at 6:00 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.  Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Friday from 3 to 6 PM.
