Obituary of Joyce A. Freiermuth

Joyce A. Freiermuth, age 88, of Marcy, passed away on April 21, 2023, at Albany Medical Center, with her family by her side.

Joyce was born in Platt Cove, NY on September 18, 1934 to the late Frank and Catherine Wase Dale. In 1952, she was united in marriage to Glendon Freiermuth; a blessed union of 59 years until his passing on February 7, 2011. She missed him every single day and is now reunited with him in heaven. She worked at the Marcy Psychiatric Center and SUNY IT.

Joyce loved birds, cooking, and being with her family. She kept her mind active by reading, doing word find puzzles, and watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and the QVC channel. She was an honest, strong, compassionate, and loving mother who taught all of her children how to be the same. She was a beautiful role model, inspirational, a confidant, and a best friend.

Joyce is survived by her six children, Debra Salsburg of Rome, Donna (Mike) Usyk of Boonville, Darlene (James) Lacell of Cleveland, NY, Elizabeth (Steve) Morat of Marcy, Scott (Catherine) Freiermuth of Rome, and Andrew (Shelly) Freiermuth of Marcy; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; five step-grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and her sisters, Carol (Art) Martin, and Cathi (John) Hollner; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Lisa Hughes; her sisters, Sharon Hardy and Joan Shepherd; and her brother, Robert Dale.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 28, at 11 AM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Rome. Burial will be in Oriskany Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 4 to 7 PM.
