Obituary of Marie D. Manchester

Marie D. Manchester, age 96, passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Marie was born in Rome on August 10, 1926, to the late Marion and Bertha Pupa Domenico, and graduated from RFA. On June 19, 1946, she was united in marriage to William P. Manchester; a blessed union of 44 years until his passing on September 6, 1990. Marie worked as a bank teller and credit loan officer for the Oneida National Bank (Bank of America).

Marie was a lifetime member of the Westernville American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crochet, ceramics, word search puzzles, and knitted many mittens, hats, and afghans.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Rita Hayes of Western; her sons, Ronald Manchester of Mandan, ND, and Robert (Linda) Manchester of Plattsburgh, NY; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; her sister, Shirley Peterpaul; and her cat, Buddy. She was predeceased by a daughter in law, Anna Rose Manchester; a brother-in-law, Michael Peterpaul; and her dog, Marley.

Marie’s funeral will be held on Tuesday at 1 PM at the Barry Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 11 AM to 1 PM prior to the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rome Humane Society.
