Obituary of Michael W. Oram
Michael William Oram, age 75, of the Town of Annsville, passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Mike was born in Rome on August 10, 1947, to the late Lee and Murl Paine Oram and educated in the Rome Schools. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1971. On June 30, 1973, he was united in marriage to the former Mollie Maitland. Mike worked at Bartell Machinery as a machinist, and established and operated Oram’s Country Roads Tree Farm with his wife.
Mike was a member of the Taberg United Methodist Church where he was also a trustee for over 20 years. He was also a trustee for the Annsville Cemetery Association and was a member of the Tree Farmers Association and Christmas Tree Growers. He enjoyed his horses, which he had for many years, and being outdoors working on his farm. He also enjoyed gathering with the Bartell retirees for breakfast for many years after retirement.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mollie; his daughters, Nancy (Tom) Vigneault of Jamesville, NY, Patty (Ron) Mills of Liverpool, NY, and Melissa (Eric) Schwartz of Cairo, Egypt; his son, Andy (Blythe) Oram of Marathon, NY; his grandchildren, Kevin, Will, and Christian Vigneault; Maya, Landon, and Kailee Mills; Addie, Colt and Ava Oram; and Evi, Julia, Leif, and Sophia Schwartz; his sister, Linda Peters; his brother, Ray (Sharon) Oram; his brothers and sisters in law, Edie (Dave) Boisen, Margie (Mike) Szyper, Jane (Jay) Smith, Jay (Mary Kay) Maitland, Roy (Kris) Maitland, Peter (Ezequiel) Maitland; and many nieces and nephews, and cousins, including a close niece, Michelle (Rob) Shauger. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Wally Peters; his sisters in law, Judy (Bill) Matt, and Nancy Maitland; and his in laws, Lewis and Beatrice Maitland.
Mike’s funeral will be held on Friday, at 11 AM, at the Taberg United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM, and on Friday at the Taberg United Methodist Church from 10 to 11 AM prior to the funeral.
