Obituary of Patricia A. Henderson

Patricia A. Henderson, 83, passed away peacefully at 7:45 am on Saturday, September 2, 2023.

 She was born on July 29, 1940, the daughter of the late Frank Brockway and Sophia (Sturbin) Brockway. She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1958. On March 17, 1962, she was united in marriage to Donald Jerome Henderson. Patricia worked as an office assistant on Griffiss Airforce Base, directly after graduating from high school. She then took time away from work in order to raise her four children. Once the children were older, she returned to the workforce as an office assistant for Nationwide Insurance, for many years before retiring.

 Patricia was a real people person, and often the life of the party. She actively participated in bowling leagues for many years. Pat was also an avid golfer, and was especially proud of the time she hit a hole in one. She was also a member of the red hat society club, and would attend many of their functions with her best friend, Barb Muscarella. Pat also loved music and would accompany her daughter, Julie, to open mics and music gigs. Pat was also an excellent cook, and often held family gatherings. Pat also enjoyed her residence in Arizona, which gave her time to visit with family living there. 

 Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Donald Jerome Henderson on May 13, 2016. She is survived by her son Donald Henderson, Jr. (Tricia), and his children Mikal, Connor, Katie, and Courtney of Arizona; her daughter Julie Henderson of Rome; her son David Henderson and wife Kim, and their children Brady and Kaley of Florida; and her daughter Christine Barry (Todd) and their daughter Andrea of Rome. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Sandra Mattingly (Tom) and their children of Arizona; sister-in-law Carol Milligan and her children of Florida; and sister-in-law Patricia Henderson (Kenneth) and their children, also of Florida. Special relatives near and dear to her heart include Sandra Sturbin Kochman (Ron); and their children, Collin (April) and USAF Maj. Andrew Kochman. A special thank you is given to Thomas Henderson (Maureen) of Lee Center, for often helping our mother with projects and home repairs after our father passed away.

 The funeral service will be held Saturday, at 10:00 am, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. 

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday, 4 to 6 PM. 

The family is very grateful to the staff of Waterville Residential Care for providing excellent care and comfort to Patricia in her final days.
