Obituary of Michael David Keller

Michael “Mike” Keller, age 77, of Rome, passed away peacefully at his home on May 7, 2024.

He was born August 28, 1946, in Rome, the son of John W. and Anna M. Bielawski Keller and graduated from Rome Free Academy. Mike served as an office manager at the former Oneida Container, which became, Tim Bar, retiring in 2011.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 and was honorably discharged.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Frank J. Steczko Post, Stanwix Veteran and Men’s Club and the Rome Polis Home.

Mike loved sports. He played baseball and basketball in high school and continued to play sports recreationally for years. He had the good fortune to attend a “Super Bowl.”  He also enjoyed golf and bowling and bowled a “300” game.  He especially enjoyed meeting his friends for breakfast during the week for many years.

Mike is survived by several cousins and nieces and nephews, including Virginia and Frank Wenz, Frank, Jr, Michael and Brandon Wenz, Brenda Attison and Cindi Murray; and several friends, including life-long friends Bill Civiok and Norm Young.

Funeral services with military honors will be held on Monday at 1 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 12 Noon to 1 PM prior to the funeral.
