Obituary of Carleton S. Rocker
Carleton “Jake” Rocker, age 88, of Blossvale, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2024, with his family at his side.
He was born November 25, 1935, in Rome, a son of the late Royal and Pauline Ritter Rocker, and educated in Remsen schools. Jake was united in marriage to the former Jean F. Willson, on November 9, 1956, in St. Patrick’s Church in Taberg; she died on June 3, 2002. He retired from Rome Cable Corp, after 29 years of service and later worked for the Oneida County DPW. He was a former member of the Pine Grove Horseshoe Club, Sleepy Hollow Golf Course and Taberg Fire Department.
Jake loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, playing horseshoes and golfing. He also made many great friends over the years of playing cards.
Jake is survived by two daughters and a son in law, Lou Ann and Drew Cox of Taberg, Patricia Roth of Taberg; a son Richard C. Rocker of Taberg; grandchildren, David Cox and Stacy Lamb, Tracey Cox, Tara and Brian Demma, Brian and Donna Rocker, Laura Rocker, Daryl and Liz Rocker, Sarah and Mark Trnchik, Jessica and Johnny Wuthrich and Chad Roth; great grandchildren, Colin, Emma, Marla, Brynn, Kayla, Bryce, Jacob, Madeline, Anna, Sophia, Johnny, Garrett and Colton; and special friend, Janet Scott. He was predeceased by a son and daughter in law, Douglas and Diane Rocker, son in law, Michael Roth, sisters and brothers in law, Ruth Hawkins and Roy Hawkins, and Charlotte and Howard Travell, and a brother, Richard Rocker.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehab Center for their care and compassion extended to Jake.
The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Taberg.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM.
