Obituary of Catherine R. Root
Mom was born Catherine Rose Nolan, to Stephen J. and Catherine G. Nolan on June 28, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York. She passed peacefully at home on June 25, 2024. Cathy’s life ended too soon due to Alzheimer’s Disease.
Cathy grew up in Steuben and attended Holland Patent Central School. She worked for CNY-DSO for nearly 30 years. Mom owned and operated her own hair salon for several years in Stanwix. She lived in Holland Patent and Rome throughout her life.
Cathy is survived by her son, Leo (Debbie) Boulerice, grand-daughters; Emily & Isabella Boulerice, and sister Ann Cimo. She loved her grand-daughters very much.
She was pre-deceased by her Husband Richard “Dick” Root in 2017, and sister, Joan Fiaschetti in April of this year. Mom and Dick enjoyed their retirement together as Dick played the guitar and she painted. Cathy participated in many artistic activities at the Kirkland Arts Center and Rome Art & Community Center.
Mom was kind to all. She will be missed by all who know her.
Thank you to mom’s caregivers, Terri, Robin, Kim, Barb, Jess & Vickie for the loving care they provided. The family would also like to thank Hospice for their care and support.
There are no calling hours per Cathy’s wishes.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
