Obituary of Barbara J. Bentley
Barbara J. Bentley, age 89, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the Wynn Hospital.
Barb was born in Rome on August 4, 1935 to the late Harold and Lois Sisbower VanDresar, and graduated from RFA. On July 5, 1953, she was united in marriage to Marshall Bentley, Jr., in Rome; a blessed union of over 40 years until his passing on October 3, 1993. Barb worked as a bank teller for Marine Midland Bank in Rome.
Barb loved her family and they were the center of her life. She enjoyed going to the casino, watching the Price is Right, and spending summers in Alexandria Bay. She also loved spending her winters in Stuart, FL and then in Naples, FL with her daughter and son in law. In her later years, she enjoyed making memories with her companion, Don Chilson until his passing in 2017. She had a great adoration for her caretakers: Danyelle (Rome) and Leslie (Florida) that helped take exceptional care of her.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Robin (Michael) Campanaro; grandchildren, Danielle (Matthew) Marshall, Chelsea (Dominic Siracusa) Campanaro; great grandchildren, Luca and Giada Adorino, and Madison, Mia, and Matthew Marshall; a sister, Carol Tallarino of Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Marshall Robert Bentley III in 1998; her sister, Ethel Clair; and brothers, Stuart, Thomas, and Richard VanDresar.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 14, at 1 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 AM to 1 PM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rome Humane Society.
