Obituary of Kathleen A. VanHoeven
Kathleen “Ma” Ann VanHoeven, age 78, of Rome, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024, at Betsy Ross Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.
Kathleen was born in Rome on April 21, 1946, to the late Robert and Jane Andrews Collins. Was married to Raymond VanHoeven. Kathleen enjoyed doing puzzles, making people laugh and most of all spending time with her family. Although life wasn’t always easy for her, she strongly and proudly stuck to her favorite saying “shit happens,” and kept her beautiful smile until the very end.
Kathleen is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Allen) Last, and Chevelle VanHoeven both of Lee Center; son, Jammie VanHoeven of Rome; grandchildren, Desiree, Hillary (Josh), Jessica, Raymond, Amanda, Jacinda, Carrie (Anthony) and Krystyna (Gary): and 21 great grandchildren: sisters, Cheryl VanHoeven, Paula (Robert) Hill, and Debbie (Ronald) Kohlman; brothers, Robert (Ruth) Collins, Andrew Collins, Dennis (Lynda) Collins, and Kevin Collins; an aunt, Diane Collins; a special cousin, Bonnie Nellenbach; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Raymond; granddaughters, Jennifer and Amber; great grandson, Liam; and daughter in law, Bonnie.
Kathleen and her family would like to thank some of the staff at Betsy Ross for the care, attention and friendship she was given while that was her home. Thank you to her end-of-life companions Jedediah, Raygen, Autumn, and Malikai.
