Marlene "Marty" R Urtz, age 81 of Lee Center NY, passed away on November 29, 2024, at Rome Health Hospital surrounded by her family.

 

Marty was born on February 21,1943 in Rome NY to the late Nicholas and Lillian McDonald Olejniuk. 

 

Marty is survived by her son Robert "Bob" Urtz of Taberg, daughter Debra Urtz Jefferies (Jamie Flick) of Lee Center,  grandchildren Brandon (Lindsay) Jefferies,  Tonya (Tim) Swayze, Stephanie Rasha (Frank Berwick), Jessica (Jason) Allen, eight great grandchildren her brothers Ronald "Wheat" (Marilyn) Olejniuk, Nicholas "Chip"  Olejniuk (Mary Griffiths), sister in law Mona Olejniuk, son in law Steve Rasha, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter Christine Rasha and brother Dennis Olejniuk.

 

Marty dearly loved her family and her cats, she was affectionally known as the 'Crazy Cat Lady'. She loved having gatherings, baking, knitting, crafting, gardening and feeding the birds.  Marty's journey on this earth was marked by her unwavering commitment of love, compassion, generosity and kindness. Her passing has and will leave a void in the hearts of her family, friends and many others who had the pleasure of meeting her. We ask that you remember her not for her life ending, but for the way it was lived, and the profound impact she had on the lives of those who have known her.

 

Earlier in life, Marty bartended at the Lee Legion Post 1794, Taberg American Legion, The Moose Club and was employed at Oneida Limited. She also worked at Rome Walmart for 20 years before retiring. 

 

The family will receive relatives and friends at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Rome NY on Friday, December 13, 2024 from 2 to 4 PM.

 

A memorial service will be held the same afternoon at 4 PM.
