Obituary of Rose A. Gardner

Rose A. Gardner, age 56, of Rome, passed away December 29, 2011, at SUNY Health Science Center, after a long illness. She was born May 19, 1955, in Utica, a daughter of Harold and Elizabeth Davis Potter, and graduated from VVS. Rose was united in marriage to Ricky Gardner; he died March 13, 2010. She was an LPN and a daycare provider for over thirty years. She also worked at the Eastern Star Home and Stonehedge Nursing Home. Rose loved traveling to Nashville to participate in line dancing events and vacationing in Florida. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her many hobbies included cross stitching, crocheting and collecting beanie babies. Rose is survived by three daughters and sons in law, Krystal L. Gardner and Christopher Irvin of Rome, Amy and Gary Beckwith of Rome and Rachell and Richard Whiting of Lee; her father, Harold Potter of Verona; a sister, Joan Elligott of Verona; brothers, Harold Potter, Jr, of Verona, John Potter and fiancée, Linda Miller of Verona, and Michael and Sigmund Urbanek Potter of Rome; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Samual, Ryan, Allyson, Joshua, Isabel, Chase and Victoria. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM, at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Townsend Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Wednesday 4 to 7 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
