Obituary of Charles J. Richards

Charles J. "Chuck" Richards Charles J. Richards, age 73, of Rome, passed away unexpectedly, January 30, 2012 at Rome Hospital. He was born October 4, 1938, in Rochester, NY, a son of the late C. Homer and Lucille DeLue Richards, and graduated from Brighton High School. Chuck was united in marriage to the former Donna Hanicker, on October 28, 1961, in St. Peter's Church. He worked side by side with his father in law at Hanicker Bros. Sand and Gravel and purchased the business in 1975. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Chuck's life revolved around his family. He always was fair, honest and caring to all his family, friends, and business associates. He loved to make people laugh and succeeded at doing so. Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Donna; a daughter, Traci Richards (his little Bullet) of Agawam, MA; a sister and brother in law, Elizabeth and Eugene Soltero of Dallas, TX; a sister in law, JoAnn Richards of Rochester; grandchildren, McKenzie and Madison Copland, whom he dearly loved; a niece, Karen Soltero and nephews, Scott and Kevin (Gayla) Richards. He was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Lenane, a brother, Jack L. Richards and a niece, Wendy Soltero. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 West Chestnut Street. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Saturday 12 to 2 PM, prior to the funeral service.
