Obituary of George J. Schilling

George "Butch" Schilling, age 72, of Rome, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2016, at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born September 16, 1944, in Rome a son of the late George and Winifred Scanlon Schilling, and graduated from Westmoreland schools. He was employed as a machinist at Bartell Machine Systems in Rome for many years. He was a member of St. Peter's Church and an avid bowler and NASCAR fan. George is survived by a daughter and son in law, Kim and Alan Collie of Hickory, NC; a son and daughter in law, John and Amy Lawter of Whitesboro; a sister and brother in law, Mary and George Bellinger of Imperial, PA; grandchildren, Hayley and Abigail Lawter and Seth, Tori and Grace Collie; and 2 nephews, George and Patrick Bellinger. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday October 8, 2016, at 10:30 AM, at St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
