Tomasina Dora Galluppi Maxim died peacefully on December 17, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 2, 1923 in Rome, NY, the eighth of ten children born to Sebastian and Flavia Fanfarillo Galluppi. She doubled up on her studies and graduated from Rome Free Academy a year ahead of her class in 1941. She was married to Joe Maxim on September 17, 1949. She worked at Catholic Charities before taking a position at Griffiss Air Force Base, retiring in 1980 with 33 years of dedicated and honorable service. Upon retirement, Tomasina moved to Hamlin, NY to be with family and to care for her grandchildren who were the joy of her life. She was active at the Sweden Senior Center in Brockport for many years, participating in the band and volunteering where needed. She volunteered in the Foster Grandparent program at Brockport Ginther School. She loved to dance, sing in the choir, bake and most importantly, spend time with her family. She was a member of Saint John the Baptist Church in Rome, the Newman Oratory and Nativity of the BVM Church in Brockport and St Elizabeth's in Hamlin. She enjoyed traveling to Italy where she got to meet many relatives. She was deep in her faith and service to our Lord. Her greatest joy was in giving to others.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara (Daniel) Augustine of Virginia Beach, VA, and Kathy (Stan) Phillips of Spencerport, NY; five grandchildren, Jim and Joey Augustine, Sheri Waite, and Theresa and Danielle Madonia; five great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Margaret and Joseph Mayes, and Barbara Wells; former son-in-law, Anthony Madonia of Rochester; a loving friend, Carol Sessions; and several nieces and nephews.
