Bruce F. Finster, Sr., age 54, of Rome, passed away peacefully January 16, 2017, at his home. He was born August 21, 1962, in Rome, a son of the late Robert and Kathleen Belle Sheldon Finster, and graduated from Rome Free Academy. He was formerly married to Kathryn Rena. Bruce was a truck driver for Felice Moving and Storage Co. in Rome. He was a member of St. Mary's/St Peter's Parish. Bruce enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fly fisherman, who enjoyed tying his own flies. He enjoyed camping in the "North" country and spending time on the sofa, watching old western movies. However, his greatest love was spending time with his granddaughter, Alexandria. Bruce is survived by a daughter and son in law, Gabrielle Noel and Thomas Dunn, Jr of Rome; two sons, Bruce F. Finster, Jr. of Rome, and Christopher L. Finster of Rome; three brothers and sisters in law, Jack and Debra Finster of Watertown, Robert and Karen Finster of Rome, and James and April Finster of Rome; granddaughter, Alexandria Faith Dunn, and "one on the way"; special friend, Austin James Hannafon of Rome; his canine companion who was always at his side, "Buddie", and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:45 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, and a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Rev. Philip A. Hearn, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday 4 to 7 PM.
