Mary E. Gallagher, age 85, of Rome, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2017 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare.
Mary was born in Williamstown, NY on December 9, 1931 to the late William and Kathleen Kelly Murray. After graduating high school, Mary entered the U.S. Navy as a WAVE in 1953. She was united in marriage to Thomas Gallagher on September 28, 1957; he passed away on August 6, 2001. Mary was a homemaker and devoted to her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her sister, Alice Madden, of Rome; her sons, William of New Mexico, Michael of Georgia, and Joseph of Florida; her daughter Kelly of Massachusetts; three daughters-in-law; 12 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons Patrick and Thomas Jr.; her grandson, Patrick; her nephew, Michael; a sister, Margaret Brennan; and two brothers, John and Howard Murray.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday at 11 AM at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours.
