I am a truly blessed person for having Mom in my life. I know that she was known as Nan and Betty but I always from day one called her Mom. I was introduced to Mom and Dad by Rose and Ricky Gardner and I spent many days with her at cook outs or just sit down and chat. It didn't make any difference what time it was she always took the time to talk and share memories. She always put on a pot of coffee as soon as we arrived. My Mom passed aways three years ago and I always told people I still had one Mom to count on and that was my Mom in Verona. She put smiles on many faces and laughter in many hearts. I want to end this memory without one of the biggest laughs I ever had in my life. I went to visit Mom and she wanted me to go to the Oneida hospital to visit one of the girls that was there and get them to laugh because they were down in the dumps. I just bought a newer car and we went to the hospital in the new car. On the way there she said that the car was really nice and that it should last a long time. The new car was a silver Chevrolet Cavalier and that will make a difference later. After the visit to the hospital, Mom and I were going through the parking lot to my car. As we got close to the car I saw a blue Pontiac undefined parked right next to my Cavalier. This was great because my other car that mom was always used to seeing was a blue Pontiac Phoenix. Well that was all I needed to have her make my day. I started to walk to the driver's side of the Phoenix and just as I hoped she started to walk toward the passenger side. I told her to make sure she closed the door hard and to fasten her seat belt. Just as she opened the door on the Phoenix I ran over to the Cavalier and the laughter just started to pour out of me. She got right in the Phoenix, slammed the door as I asked and fastened her seat belt as I asked. It was at that point she sat waiting for the driver side to open. I waited a few more seconds and then I honked the horn to get her attention. Only then did she realized that I was in the other car and she was in a completely strange car. She had the seat belt off and out of the other car in seconds and she and I were laughing so hard we couldn't breathe. When she finally calmed down and I could see through my laughter tear fulled eyes, she asked me what was wrong with me to make her do something like that and I said wait a minute there was nothing wrong with me, I got in the right car!! When I thought all the laughter was over she said that something looked wrong as soon as she got in the other car and I said what was the give away. Then she told me that there was gas cans on the floor board and that the seat was a lot further back then when she got in the car to go to the hospital. She said like a fool she believed me and that was her biggest mistake. Mom, you will always be in my thoughts and thanks so much for taking me in your heart and family. I will miss always saying hi when I visited. Dad and I were truly blessed with you.

Mike & family, In this difficult time, I wanted to share with you a song that speaks to my heart. May you gain peace in knowing that Betty is no longer suffering and that she is home with our Lord and Savior. Peace be with you all. There Will Be a Day - Jeremy Camp "There will be a day with no more tears, no more pain, and no more fears. There will be a day when the burdens of this place, will be no more, we'll see Jesus face to face." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=le-TG4sRRiQ Love, Mike R.
