Obituary of Wayne J. Roux

Wayne J. Roux, age 80, of the Town of Lee, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2018, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. Wayne was born in Rome on May 7, 1937 to the late Marcel and Gladys Conley Roux. He received his G.E.D. from Westmoreland Central School. Wayne proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, during the Korean War. On June 14, 1964, he was united in marriage to the former Margaret Gaylord; a blessed union of 53 years until her passing on September 5, 2017. Wayne worked as a diamond die maker at Roux Wire Die, which his great grandfather started, for over 50 years. He was also a mechanic at Sears Roebuck for 30 years. Wayne was an avid hunter and a member of the NRA. He was a kind and quiet soul who enjoyed his work and continued working part time after his retirement. Wayne is survived by a daughter and son in law, Aimee and Michael McCanney of Palm Bay, FL; two sons and daughters in law, Marc and Mary Roux of Taberg, and Scott and Kerith Roux of Baldwinsville; five cherished granddaughters, Ashely, Marissa, Amelia, Sophia, and Kendall; a granddaughter, Baby McCanney, on the way; and two brothers, Jack Roux Sr. and David Roux, both of Rome. He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Aiello; and two brothers, Francis and Donald Roux. A funeral service with military honors will be held on Monday at 6:30 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Lee Valley Cemetery in the spring. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 4:30 to 6:30 PM, prior to the service.
